To my Co-worker

I am angry, irritable, rude and mean right now...yeah am human!

I am waiting for the day when she needs my help badly and I can sit back, look at her irritating face and say "Sorry would have loved to help , but you see its not a part of my job!"...@#$%#%

Chinese co-worker, curt and rude, rigid, racist, inefficient and unprofessional.

This post is dedicated to this lady who works with me....and defines unprofessionalism...heres a few words for u lady!

1) There are people around better than u-They look better, they are in a higher grade, are a zillion times more intelligent(have u heard of that word before???) and tonnes more smarter than u and thats why they are where they are and u are where u are...LIVE WITH IT!

2) I have worked my ass off to be where I am and I deserve to be here. You too deserve to be where you are. If you have your insecurities in life, deal with them on your own. I am not your best buddy (and dont have intentions of being one), nor your lover/hubby nor ur mom(god bless her) to take any shit from you!

3) Unprofessionalism in work place is more obvious than Big boobs from low cut blouses....if you think people dont see you shying away from work think again!

4) Team work doesnt mean having 2 hr lunches with your colleagues-grow up!

5) Your behaving like a mobile Job description and narrating "Its not a part of my job" for everything that sounds like work is not gonna fool people into believing that you want free pay!! Being rude to people is also not part of your Job..or is it!!!!!???

6) To get anywhere in life you need to work with people..not against them sweetheart!

There!!!...Phew!

Ok So I am irritable, and irritable and mean right now...Sue me!..But some people just need too see the absolutely blunt side of me and she truely is one!

LOL... nice readin this... but u must accept this is all a part of workplace culture.

And hey with that line "not part of my job", she won't go anywhere. Believe me.

Good for you. Now go and tell her all of the above...in a slightly more diplomatic way :P

Ive had the ubnfortunate experience of working with people from Singapore and HK, and, at the cost of sounding racist, they are not the easiest people to work with. They are soo bloody rigid they are like robots. Freaky.

It's so depressing :(

"Its not part of my job" quite an appropriate line she has chosen...Every work place has a sample like this around. She needs to be in our team where there r loads of opportunities where she can taste her own medicine.

careful, i'm a chinese :P
i think among all the asians that i work with hk and the taiwanese are the worst :P but the hardest to deal is the mainland chinese in terms of getting the work done! anyways, i know that hk are very racist. only advantage is i can speak their dialect. they have very poor knowledge about other countries :P

i think you should just tell her off. this hk ppl needs to be told off...that's their culture!

sudeep - even as i read this - i wondered whether this is 'the' one who smells!

ekta - its not you or HK honey...these women are everywhere....infact their tribe is increasing! i remember doing a post about them a long time ago. What beats me though is despite all the nothingness they are upto all the time - they are still the ones who get away with it. they'd probably be the ones who are 1st in line when people are being considered for promotions / pay hikes. I have still not figured out how to deal with these pests - though the search for the solution is on. Meanwhile if you feel like having a laugh you may want to read - http://reshmaanand.blogspot.com/2005/11/here-comes-diva.html

Been there and seen the same type before. in every workplace u come across some one like this who thinks that their ----does not smell, they feel that they are better than everyone else and that they are entittled to 2hr lunches and can get by without doing any work. i am with you. I hate these kind of people.I had a co worker who even took credit for the work I had done.

Hey..A very smart way to vent the frustration!! I have had probs with Chinese workers when we didnt have face to face contact but had meetings everyday, conf calls.....They screwed my hapiness for long n then I put my foot them n then they stopped bugging me and acting without any etiquette....Hope she gets it or gets to a place where people like her team up!!

At 3:47 AM, Blogger Homo Escapeons said...

You Go Girl!
Stand and Deliver your Declaration in her face! Shake her up a bit. YEAH BABY!
Ok if that is not your style quietly take her aside in a headlock and let her know exactly how much EVERYBODY else in the company hates her ANDROID guts and that she should start being nicer to people before she gets tossed out on her ass.
If she really is that self absorbed she will totally freak out! What fun.

At 7:01 AM, Blogger Ekta said...

Free:- Oh yeah tell me about it..I cant believe how difficult it is to get ANYTHING done from them-was pissed like hell!..I empathise with u girl..!:-(

Has:-Thx has...so agree, anything in the name of wee bit "help" and they show u the thumb..wonder how they even survive in the workplace!

Vaibhav:- Hey Vaibhav, thx fior dropping by and yes I do accept this as part of working life however it still doesnt take away the irritation and anger!:-)

Ron:- Oh yeah!!..Tell me about it..HK is definately a racist place-enough experiences to indicate that but doesnt bother me that much-coz somewhere we dont have an inclination anymore to make any "chinese friends"
As for being diplomatic--thats the problem..I just cant be diplomatic, If I do speak to her it will eb exactly in this lingo.

Der:-Oh yeah! what the heck..am just not the articulate and diplomatic types..I believe in "on the face feedback"...take it or leave it!

KJ:-Gosh! even UAE..looks like these samples are everywhere!! And we indians are so different...the minute we see a foreigner in office we go all Gaga over them and shower all our attention on them!

Navin:- Hah..sure feel free to use and even abuse it...but trust me its a fact!

Me:- Hey--guess ur right, these samples exists EVERYWHERE..I geuss U need atleast one of a kind to complete the team!

South:- hahah..thats a nice name yeah yeah I feel like Rani lakshmi bai too;-)...and yeah pls pls do take her to your workplace na!

Manish:- Haha..yeah yeah absolutely, if you want to flaunt it make sure ur professional enugh so that people dont focus on ur unprofessionalism and only ur..."whatevers"!

The perfect!:- hey welcome to my blog and ur so right sadly...need to get back today to the same old shitty place and spend another day with these samples!

Lil:- hey sweets, thx and trust me am also waiting to see her reaction when she hears this from me and the days pushes me over the edge she is going to hear it from me!

Christabelle:- yeah girl I agree thats the best technique...like they say "ignorance is bliss"!

Sudeep:- hey naah...thats not her...so u see I have so many different variety of samples in the office!

White:-Sadly, yes sweetheart, this definately is one of my sharper edges...hate to bring it out..but some people really test me at times!

Shubha:- hahah...thx girl yeah yeah i'll be outta my job if I give u my ID and u send her this post;-)

Ben:- hey ben, welcome to the blog and thx..am totally relaxed now..it was just a vent out!

Manish:- Will do dude

Aberrant:- hahah...Hey I didnt see it that way..now that uv said it..ur right..maybe she will look a lot better if she is punched!;-)

eclipsed:- Oh yeah babe...Like I said am just waiting for a chance to say the "Not a part of my job" words back to her...mera number aayega!

Elaine:- Hey girl, firstly, this isnt a racist blog--she may well have been an Indian and I would still have written the same post!...Nothing against Chinese people and dont want to generalise but ur soo right about the racist bit!HK people definately are racist and have a superiority complex with respect to other asians!....
But honestly after a pt of time u learn to laugh at them and feel sorry for them rather than feeling bad!

Reshma:- oohh u just said it!!..Have realised these charactes are everywhere and maybe this becoems immensely strong in some cultures with respect to foreigners!...But I seriously wonder how they get away with this "escape from work" attitude!..Will catch ur post soon!

Starry:- Oh gawd! Those are the worst types...I wld have raised a big hue and cry had someone else taken credit for my work...such people deserve to be put in their place!!

How do we:- Oh yes..dont worry she will get it back and real soon..like I said...when the time is right...she will get a taste of her own medicine...ok so am revengeful too!

Scribblez:- wayyyy to go girll!!..thats the way to handle them--put them in place! Have realised the more we bend over and "accomodate" them , the more advantage they take of us! Proud of u!

Homo:- haha thats soo sweet!!..Oh yes and no am not taking her to the corner--just waiting for the time when she needs my help and I can speak her language back with her...it'll happen soon and guess she'll get a taste of her own medicine then!

Sorry to hear about you having a co-worker like that. Maybe the next round of "reductions" will help trim the fat so to say.

I have been lucky in this regard and may be some of this is cos of our management being really good about how they handle folks.

Also we havea fairly diverse workplace incl ppl from Taiwan and China and they are pretty good at what they do. Vent away it's your palce after all, but not sure if one can generalize right?

Sometimes we ..as being a human ..have to prove tht our nature is elastic...we can compromise whenever required ! But the point is ..are we the only humans to compromise..and others taking advantage of our compromises..NO !!
In such state...when one tries taking you for granteed and not allows her self to become the same she treats others like...surely means tht u should become rigid to tht person ! Softness lies for thoes...who become soft themselevs when required...but harshness and rudness lies for these kinda person (as u mentioned) !
I bet..once u show ur attitude to her..or once u try and ignore her...she would run after u only...she wuld try to patch up wid ya...and if..she doesnot..thn Who cares..You keep up the ignoring stuff and all is fine at your part !

Other thn this... just give yourself a second thought...Why ruining your mood...your temper...for such hatred deserving unskilled people !

So cheer up and Smile :)

I have been in similar situations with asians. I think majority of them are quite rude, at work, at driving, at the movies and in general.

What I found out is that if I took a stand and assert myself, they generally backed out. They are not very confrantational, just sleazy.

White:- "They disguise hypocrisy to be professionalism!"

Sooo true..completely agree...in fact there is a concept of "social loafing" where u ride on others back professionally..doing nothing urself...we see enugh such instances ard in our professional environment!

Milo:- thx dear--guess thats what my blog is all about..my space to vent out!:-)

Deep:- Hey wow..hadnt seen it that way..so guess the only way to escape them is tio climb the corporate ladder very fast!..eh;-)

Anoop:-Thx sooo much dear and yes its often difficult to figure out how to handle even basic conversations with such people!

Twisted:- well this is my first experience at working directly with another asian so guess I am not able to generalise yet!...and have other asians and chinese who are sweet to work with too...my frustation and irritation right now is actually with one individual!
But I can imagine how difficult must be for you to handle more of her type.!
