Planoholic

Ok...so big deal....everyone is like me....or atleast 10% people are like me (same thing).....and yeah am a planoholic....!!

Well over the past 1.5 yrs...to be specific since marriage( and since I had to start sharing my home, room, bed, bedsheets etc etc with someone else)...have realised I am a planoholic....I plan..almost...EVERYTHING...its like I almost know how my day tomorrow is gonna go coz I run thru it a day before in my mind.....!

I know whats gonna be made for lunch/dinner the next day and maybe the day after next too..
What I am going to do first thing in the morning and after I reach office...
What clothes and shoes I am gonna wear for the next three days....
My schedule on return from office till I go to sleep....
When I will take my medicines the next day(pre/post dinner)...
How much time I will spend in the loo and taking a bath(yes I have clocks in both Bathrooms)....etc etc....

And well yeah...planning is one thing....but I get really(I mean really ) upset if for some reason things dont go as planned.....maybe its a fetish....but hubby dear has been bearing the brunt of it.

Example ...while leaving for office in the morning one day I got dressed and Hubby dear remarked that the outfit I wore for some reason wasn't suiting me..!!..I went in and changed and after that sulked for 10 minutes and then demanded that Hubby dear tell me exactly why the dress wasnt suiting me when it suited others!!!.

After some exchange of words...I accepted the agitation was not for the dress but coz Hubby dear had upset my "plan" to wear that dress....it wasnt important if I looked bad in that dress...it was more important that my plans dont get screwed!

Ok so maybe this is a compulsive behaviour....or what the heck am a psycho...sue me!:-)

Am I the only one around?

Hey Planoholic...same is the case here...atleast wrt the lunch/dinner menu....

so u plan out ur wardrobe for 3 days in advance...thats a lil strange.....

clocks in the bathrooms...arre vaha toh aaram se RELAX kar liya karo :P....a hot steaming shower ke beech mein ek gaadi..nahinnnnnnnn

You seem to be an Organized person....hai kya??

No, you are absolutely not the only one. I am just like that. I like things to go exactly as planned. Even when we go out to run errands, I have the order of shops that we will go to all planned out in my head and it really pisses me off if there is a change of plans…

At 1:39 PM, Blogger Aditi said...

Ok see I am a compulsive planner as well. I plan but then being me, I also have backup plan A and backup plan B. While its not down to the miniscule of what to wear etc, but then I might get there someday.
A few years ago I thought I'd throw caution to the wind and try living unplanned.. but even that became a plan to not plan.. hehe needless to say didnt work. Now i plan but try to stay calm should things not go according to the plan..
I hope that made sense.. but bathroom clocks.. see I have been demanding those but my family just laughts at me.. I will have them when I have my own place.. it makes sooo much more sense

Sometimes it happens that you feel very upset and disappointed when things dont go according to your plans. I suppose Planning is compulsory in ourlives. I wont say I am very much of Planoholic but will surely plan things what I have to do next either with work or with daily routine.

Oh!!! My dad and mom would have loved to have a daughter like ya!!! I am not so planaholic, i make some plans for the future(like, i am gonna do this after i study), but not the "immidiate" future you are talking abt. I would probably, plan that "ok, i am goin to wash my clothes this weekend and visit this person on this date"... but generally, such plans dutn work wid me...

Even with studies, such weekly plannin has not worked.... so i better kill it :)

Great dude..! What can be better thn living a well organized life !

Planning is a less demanding service to ourselves which gives extravagant outcomes...but besides the good part of planning...there are sum bad parts aswell...If u knw everything u are going to do tommorow..and if u plan so well each day..tht there is nothing which remains concealed...or nothing hidden ..for which u wuld look forward for the other day to come soon..thn your life will gradually turn into a boring piece..u'll feel each day is a boring challenge..and excitment will evaporate!
This is the reason y nature sumtimes disfollows its own plans...for eg. the forcast is mentioning the day to be bright ..but somehow natures chnges its plan..and the rain wets us ! This is how it makes life excited..and interesting...sum things happening unpredictably..sumtimes not following our own schedules...sumtimes chnging our own minds on several stuffz..so tht a bit spice can remains in..or else..everything is so dull!

I think it is a good trait to have because you are so organized, as for me I am not a planaholic, I wish I was. everything gets done and done well I have to say in the last minute.I work better under stress.I wish I was like you though.

okay this is me....everytime someone is visiting, be it for two days or a month, we make an excel spread sheet with everyday planned out as far as what we're doing and what we're eating. Right down to breakfast, lunch and dinner to everyplace we are taking them out. And we try to stick to it with little room for exceptions. Any changes have to be made atleast 3 days in advance for me to be comfortable. I hate last minute plans and decisions. And I don't adapt well to change. Freaky? May be. So I understand your planoholism, absolutely :)

At 9:28 PM, Blogger Suman Pant said...

Hey
thats a great trait.. u are so organized... i am just the opposite, least bothered... i usually dont know what will i do the next minute!!! lol... but it is good to be organized.

and yeah, even i lose my temper when someone forces me to be a bit organized... so i guess, intensity is the same but the opposite frequency!!!
take care... hugzzz

Hey...Having clocks at the restroom...Hearing tht for the first time actually....

I used to plan too but not this agressively...I wont really feel bad if my hubbs tells me something is not fine, I will just go n change as I keep a couple of options open.

Even with meals I have a couple of options open n I am no great cook so donot need a complusive planning guide...

Shoes come naturally as per the attire...Even the dress, I just think about it and not stress over it that thts the only course as I would just get pisssed if it didnt work tht way like u went sulking.

If you can stretch your neck out and look at the last point on the opposite side of your 'i plan everything in my life' continuum - you will find me sitting there !

I know a couple of people who are very uncomfortable with change - and i often wonder - is it that for people who can tolerate change...life throws up crazy situations to encounter knowing that they will somehow deal with it OR is it that people who encounter crazy situations learn to lap up change...which is the cause and which is the effect?

Eclipsed:-*i usually dont know what will i do the next minute!!*

Aww..wellI think usually planning happenes over long term..yes even I dotn know what I am going to do next minute but I do know what am gonna do when I go home..
Guess people are different and some people thrive at last minute planning!

Scribblez:- *Hey...Having clocks at the restroom...*
Is it?..well I realised that I used to get so carried away while taking baths that I used to end up late to office and hence the clock which helps me cut my bath short!

A little OCD goes a long way in Life.
For instance;when you walk into a movie theatre you know where all of the fire exits are and you have already eliminated several available seats because they are located near the ladies that are going to talk about every frickin' detail concerning their entire lives throughout the entire movie, the smelly guys, the pig in the 5th row who is going to chew his popcorn with his mouth wide open (WHY???), the lovebirds who are going to shuffle and giggle, and located the perfect seats between the film students who will remain motionless for two hours and the couple having a domestic dispute that prohibits them from uttering a single word to each other.

So don't worry about it.

hey gal, thanks for yr encouraging words..i do appreciate it...well...its a little strange that u have clocks in yr shower room...haha...and i am still unmarried and the thought that i have to share everything with the other half sometimes puts me into thinking " is this wat i call life partner?" most of the things i plan ( for instance i teach) don t turn out the way i want...its good to plan but if all the things we plan turns well, then i guess life would be boring!

You really shoudn't be planning to the minutest details like 2/3 days for dinner and clothes. And more important, one should not get mad if there is change of plan. Cheers..life is too short.

planning is as natural as dreaming.
when you know that something is coming up, or you are expecting something to happen, the mind kicks in to high gear and it starts devising plans and ways to handle these 'upcoming' events.
its ok.

Planonholic... that is not me.
I mostly take everything as it
unfolds.
Sometimes I wish I did plam more...
like I was packing for my vacation

airport.
My husband kept asking me
"why do you always do this?"
My answer was "don't worry... it's
all cool...I will be ready on time"
I never sweat the small stuff...
I love to just enjoy each day as it comes to me.
At times I do put myself under a
little stress being I am not into
planning... but things always get
done.
So... it's all good!

Good post !! Same pinch :-). I like to cook by plan and decide on dresses to wear for a week ( I need to iron them and not repeat the same I wore last week :-)). I think all hubby's are cool..So far, no great issues with my hubby ..should wait and see when things start bursting.
